MY APPROACH TO THERAPY

AWARENESS FIRST. CHANGE FOLLOWS NATURALLY.

Therapy with me is about slowing down and listening deeply — to your body, your emotions, and the parts of yourself that may not have had space to speak before.

Through Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Gestalt Therapy, we’ll explore what’s really happening beneath the surface. You’ll learn to understand yourself in new ways — and from that awareness, genuine change begins to unfold.

MY TECHNIQUES

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems (IFS) recognizes that we all have different “parts” — inner voices or sub-personalities that carry unique emotions, beliefs, and fulfill specific roles. Some protect us from pain, while others hold the burdens of past experiences and wounds.

In therapy, we build a respectful and compassionate relationship with these parts, helping them feel safe enough to soften. As this happens, your ”SELF” — the natural leader and core of who you are becomes available. The “SELF’S” nature is: calm, curious, confident, creative, spacious, compassionate and transparent. We are all born with it and it cannot be altered by trauma.

When SELF energy is accessed, it has the ability to heal our inner wounds and be the source of unwavering support we have always needed.

Gestalt Therapy

Gestalt Therapy focuses on the here and now; what you’re feeling, sensing, and expressing in the present moment. Instead of analyzing from afar, we explore experiences as they unfold, helping you notice patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and body sensations.

This approach strengthens awareness, integrates unfinished experiences, and empowers you to live with more authenticity and choice.

Gestalt incorporates safe experiments in session such as: role play, movement and various externalizations to promote freedom of expression, emotional release, deeper understanding of your system and practice for the challenging conversations in life outside of the therapy space.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic Therapy helps you explore the deeper layers of your emotional life: often unconscious patterns that influence how you think, feel, and relate to others. By bringing these insights into awareness, you can begin to release old narratives and develop a more compassionate understanding of yourself.

This insight-driven process supports long-term, sustainable change and emotional freedom.

Polyvagal Therapy

Rooted in neuroscience, Polyvagal Theory helps explain how your body responds to stress and connection. When your nervous system feels safe, you can think clearly, connect easily, and handle emotions with more stability. We’ll work on identifying your body’s cues of safety and threat, using grounding and self-regulation strategies to support emotional balance.

Over time, you’ll learn how to bring your system back to calm quicker during stressful moments.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness invites you to slow down and gently observe your inner world without judgment. Through simple awareness practices, you can create more space between reaction and response, reducing anxiety and increasing emotional clarity; which allows for more aligned, value driven decisions and behaviors.

These tools are woven naturally into sessions to help you ground, self-regulate, and live with more presence and intention.

Creative Arts

Sometimes emotions live beyond words. Through art, movement, imagery, or metaphor, we can give expression to what’s been hard to articulate. Creative Arts therapy invites play, curiosity, and freedom, often revealing new perspectives or emotional release.

No artistic skill is needed; this process is about connection, not perfection.

Role Play & Experiential Work

Role play and experiential exercises allow you to safely explore emotions, relationships, and possibilities in real time. By “trying on” new ways of being by speaking a truth, setting a boundary, or comforting a younger self, you create powerful opportunities for integration and change.

These practices help move insight from the mind into the body, where transformation becomes lasting.

Awareness is the cornerstone of our work together. With awareness comes choice, and choice is empowering!
